(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Dec. 8 (Petra) -- Tens of thousands of Jordanians took to the streets following Friday prayers protesting the U.S.'s decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and move U.S. embassy to the holy city.

Protesters marching from the Husseini Mosque in downtown Amman carried slogans emphasizing their rejection of the U.S. president's unilateral decisions.

They held banners that reaffirm that Jerusalem will remain the first of the two Qiblas, and the third of the holy shrines and would remain the core of the issue and the eternal capital of Palestine.

A number of officials, political figure and parties and members of workers unions took part in the mass rallies. Similar protests were held in other governorates, including Karak, Madaba, Irbid, Ma'an and Zarqa.
