Kuwaiti drug addict holds family hostage, seeks money

(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY, Dec 7: Police have arrested a young Kuwaiti for holding his family captive inside their home in Taima, reports Al-Anba daily. The daily quoting security sources said the suspect was armed with a cleaver and threatened to stab the members of the family if they did not give him the credit card to withdraw money to buy drugs. It took police two hours to convince the youth to open the door before taking him into custody.

Drunkard arrested: A drunken Kuwaiti man caught in possession of a cleaver and two bottles of local liquor was referred to the concerned authority. A security source said officers from Jahra Security Command mounted a makeshift checkpoint at Jahra Vocational Area and caught the man in possession of a cleaver and two bottles of local gin. He was at a complete loss during a conversation with the officers, and they discovered he was high on liquor. Meanwhile, security operatives from Capital Command arrested a Kuwaiti man and two ladies in possession of 11 'Laricka' pills. They were referred to the concerned authority for legal action.

Financial case: Special Taskforce officers arrested a Kuwaiti citizen who is wanted by law for a financial case of KD 50,000 in Ahmadi area. During a routine patrol, the officers set up a security checkpoint to arrest law violators and wanted persons. When they suspected one of the vehicles that arrived at the security checkpoint, they asked the driver to produce his civil ID. Checking his details, they discovered he is wanted for a financial case. They arrested him and referred him to Civil Execution Department for necessary legal action. Also, securitymen arrested a Kuwaiti woman in her 30's who is wanted for a case of betrayal of trust which was filed at Ardiya Police Station.

2 held with drugs: Capital securitymen arrested a Kuwaiti man and a GCC national in Qairawan area in possession of illicit drugs. A security source said the officers were on a round of the area when a motorist (Kuwaiti) aroused their suspicion. They ordered him to stop for checking and discovered he had a companion (GCC national). The officers went ahead and conducted precautionary search in the vehicle when they noticed the duo was becoming jittery, and found five sachets of shabu. They were referred to Drug Prosecution.
