(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MoTC) has formally launched a national integrated public transport marketing and wayfinding programme that will enable citizens, residents, and tourists to better understand and access Qatar's upcoming multi-modal transit system.
The programme has been designed to promote Qatar's public transportation system, its convenience, and its benefits as well as increase the awareness and perception of public transport in the country and contribute to the achievement of Qatar National Vision 2030.
HE the Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Seif Ahmed al-Sulaiti has given directives on the importance of completing the current study on the programme during 2018, that will unify and raise the image of public transport.
The programme will help enable a number of important developments in Qatar's public transportation infrastructure, including the launch of rail, ferry, taxi and enhanced bus services reaching communities across the country.
The integrated public transport marketing and wayfinding project will involve five distinct phases starting with research into global best practices, followed by a gap analysis, the formulation of an integrated marketing and wayfinding strategy, and then the campaign frameworks and measurement tools to ensure its effective delivery.
Speaking on behalf of Transport Ministry, HE Sheikh Mohamed bin Khalid bin Jassim al-Thani, the project sponsor and director of the MoTC Technical Affairs Department said: "This project is among the most important in the rollout of the new public transportation facilities. The investment in hard infrastructure is almost complete, and now it is up to us to understand, engage, and motivate all parties to get on board and on the move with public transportation. Making it a success will require close integration with entities across the country, and a shared vision for what public transportation can achieve."
