(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Badar al Amri, who picked up golf only two years back, made a surprise entry into the national team that will compete in the forthcoming Arab Golf Championship, which will be held at the Ayla Golf Club at Aqaba in Jordan from November 29-December 2.
The 34 year old has shown good promise at domestic tournaments and his consistency seemed to have impressed the Oman Golf Committee (OGC), who named him as one of the four members in the national squad.

It will be Azaan's 15th participation at the Arab meet since he made his debut in 2002.
National team manager Steven Troup said, 'We have picked the best available players and hope they perform to their best.'
Amri said that he was 'honoured to represent Oman' and added, 'I'm looking forward to it and hoping to achieve good scores and use this experience to improve my game.'
Troup was impressed with the recent performances of Amri, who is a member at Ghala Golf Club.
'He is an exciting prospect, having only played golf for a short time. He's already shooting good scores in Oman and this experience will be a great opportunity for him to compete at a higher level and learn a lot.'
Troup said that Ali Hameed al Saleh, who is currently ranked No 2 in Oman, had to pull out due to an injury.
Two promising youngsters - Fahad al Kitani and Rashad al Harthy – were unavailable due to academic commitments.
Meanwhile, the national U18 and a two-member women's team returned empty-handed from their participation in the Arab championships in Tunisia recently.
