Hamas dissolves Gaza government, ready to hold general elections


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Gaza, Sept.17 (Petra)-- The Hamas Islamic Movement early Sunday announced that it's ready to dissolve its administrative committee (the government) in the Gaza and called on the unity government to come to the strip and carry out its tasks and duties immediately.

A statement released by Hamas, Sunday dawn, said that the movement has agreed also to hold Palestinian general elections in a move to end its long dispute with Fatah movement.

Hamas said it was "responding to the Egyptian efforts to end the split and achieve reconciliation, based on our desire to achieve national unity ".

The movement also said it is ready to restart without preconditions direct dialogue with the Palestinian Fatah movement to form a power-sharing unity government and fully implement the 2011 Cairo agreement.
