Palestine court rejects corruption case against Dahlan

(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) A Palestinian court on Sunday refused to look into corruption charges leveled against sacked Fatah leader Mohamed Dahlan, citing a procedural error.

The court said it turned down the case because it was filed before Dahlan had his parliamentary immunity taken away from him.

Head of the Palestinian Anti-Corruption Authority Rafiq al-Natsheh said earlier that he had referred the file of Dahlan, the former leader of Fatah in the Gaza Strip, to the corruption crimes court.

Despite Dahlan's longtime affiliation with Fatah chief Mahmoud Abbas, the former fell out with the Palestinian leader in recent years, prompting the latter to officially expel him from the movement in 2011.

Fatah sacked Dahlan on the heels of accusations that he planned to form a military force to control the West Bank.

Now based in the United Arab Emirates, Dahlan was the head the Palestinian Preventive Security Agency in the Gaza Strip in 2007.

He was also a member of the Central Committee of Fatah faction.
