Russia is the worlds nineteenthlargest insurance market in terms of gross written premium and has the most underdeveloped life insurance segment among the BRIC countries, with the life insurance segment contributing only XX% of the overall written premium for the total insurance industry in 2011. The Russian insurance industry registered significant growth during 20062008, before the global economic crisis of 2008. Although insurance industry growth slowed during 2009, it recovered quickly and is expected to continue to expand over the forecast period.
