(MENAFN - Jordan Times) AMMAN - Lebanons Abdo Feghali was crowned champion of Al Hussein Rumman Hill Climb on Friday.

The event, held under the patronage of HRH Prince Feisal, chairman of the Executive Motor Sports Council, and organised by Jordan Motorsport, witnessed several dramatic incidents which led organisers to cancel the third round and settle for the results of the two rounds.

Feghali clocked 1m52.13s in a Mitsubishi Evo 6, leaving Syrias Fadi Hamadeh in the second place with 1m54.66s in a Mitsubishi Evo 9 and Jordans Fadi Bikawi in the third spot with 1m57.21s in his Mitsubishi Evo 7.

Two minor accidents occurred in the last round of the event when Khatchik Shadian, in his Lola Formula 3 Cosworth, hit the side of the track and had to be rushed to the hospital. Firas Saeddiens Mitsubishi collided with the side track and was also taken for treatment.

Khatchiks brother Barkev told The Jordan Times that Khatchik was immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment and he is doing fine.

The hill climb course is exactly three kilometres in length and three metres in width with an average rise of 8.5 per cent. There are a total of 24 bends and corners including four hairpin bends. The course is situated two kilometres north of Rumman.

Jordans Atef Awad came in fourth followed by Barkev.

Bikawi said he was pleased with his result although it was very difficult.

It was one of the toughest events so far, but I tried my best to finish in an advanced position and it worked. It is so sad to see accidents happening and I wish them all the best, he said.

The one seater cars are always hazardous in such events but these things happen, he added.

Meanwhile, MS Philippe Kazan Racing driver Nancy Majali broke the previous record registered by Abir Battikhi when she clocked 2m06.40s in her Mitsubishi Evo 8.

It is great to be back on track especially in the Rumman Climb, I still have a lot of training to do to be back in shape but so far I am satisfied, she said.

Rallying champion Fares Bustami secured Group N title when he clocked 2m06.92s.
