Ahmed added that during the period, exports and re-exports grew 8.5 percent, exceeding USD33.45 billion, from the USD30.86 billion posted in 2011's same period, whereas imports went up 5.4 percent to USD47.68 billion, compared with USD45.23 billion.
He said that Dubai's main trading partner in terms of exports, re-exports and imports at the current time is India, with a total trade value of more than USD10.88 billion.
It is worth noting that during the first quarter, Dubai's top exported product was gold, at USD5.06 billion, whereas the main re-exported products were telecom equipment and devices, at USD5.30 billion, and unwrought, worked and semi-manufactured gold were the main imports, at USD6.96 billion.
