(MENAFN) Fairmont Raffles Hotels International Makkah's vice president and managing director, Mohammed Arkobi, stated that on the first day of Ramadan, the firm will launch its first Swissotel property in the Middle East in the city of Makkah, reported Arabian Business.
Arkobi said that the hotel is expected to attract pilgrims and Umrah performers, in addition to business travelers.
He added that the 1,487-rooms hotel will include 352 triple-bed rooms and 22 disabled-friendly rooms.
On the other hand, he said that during the coming 3-4 years, the Canada-based Fairmont Hotels and Resorts plans to open 12 hotels in the Kingdom to benefit from the growing demand for luxury travel in the country.
Moreover, Fairmont, which runs 2 hotels in Saudi, the Raffles Makkah Palace and the Makkah Clock Royal Tower, posted an average occupancy rate of nearly 60 percent during the last 10 months, whereas occupancy rates during the weekends reached 100 percent.
It is worth noting that Fairmont Hotels is the parent company of the Zurich-based Swissotel.
