(MENAFN - Arab Times) Kuwait's Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Lt. Gen. Ahmad Abdulatif Al-Rujaib on Thursday signed a cooperation protocol with Sri Lankan Minister of Foreign Employment Promotion and Welfare Dilan Perera to protect the rights and duties of expats and exchange of experiences.
In a press statement following signing of the protocol, Minister Al-Rujaib said that the protocol affirms deep relations and continuous cooperation between Kuwait and Sri Lanka, as well as exchanging experiences in various work areas.
On his part, Perera, in a statement to KUNA, praised Kuwait's role in maintaining the rights of expats in general, and Sri Lankan expats in particular, adding that he has invited Minister Al-Rujaib for an official visit to Sri Lanka.
Earlier in the day, Perera said Thursday his country is willing to forge bilateral relations with Kuwait on the basis of mutual interest.
The Sri Lankan minister also voiced his country's interest in reinforcing cooperation and coordination in the fields of sharing and developing manpower, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Social Affairs said in a statement Thursday.
Perera is holidng talks with the Kuwaiti government in the fields of work and manpower, it added.
The memo is mainly intended to cement existing relations between the governments of both friendly countries, according to the release.
