Equatorial Guinea FM commends level of ties with Kuwait


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, Dec 11 (KUNA) -- Foreign Minister of Equatorial Guinea Simeon Angue said Malabo highly appreciated relationship with the State of Kuwait and its people, particularly to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
Angue was quoted by Ambassador Hamad Al-Mashaan, Kuwait's Assistant Foreign Minister for African Affairs, following a meeting in Malabo where Angue underlined that His Highness the Amir's participation in the 4th Arab-African Summit that was held in Malabo in November 2016 contributed to strengthening of ties between the two countries.
Al-Mashaan, speaking to KUNA, said Angue commended His Highness the Amir's intiative at Kuwait-hosted Arab-African Summit in 2013 to launch a USD one billion easy loans for the African countries' development.
"Wherever you go in Africa, you will see development and vital projects launched by Kuwait and Kuwaiti philanthropists for the African people," he was quoted as saying.
Al-Mashaan, for his part, said his visit to Malaba aimed at activating a memorandum of political consultations, which was signed on sidelines of the Arab-African summit Equatorial Guinea in 2016.
Kuwait, he said, would participate in an African conference in Equatorial Guinea over the Silencing of Guns in second quarter of 2020.
Al-Mashaan, who was on a tour including Cote d'Iviore and Gabon, invited Angue to visit Kuwait.
Relations between Kuwait and Equatorial Guinea were established in 1988. Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) provided two loans to build Bata International Airport and a hospital. (end)
