GCC: Israelis 'nation' law exemplifies acts of racism, discrimination

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) RIYADH, July 20 (KUNA) -- The Secretary-General of the GCC, Abdullatif Al-Zayani condemned on Friday the 'nation-state' law of the Jewish people passed by the Israeli legislative, Knesset.
Al-Zayani described in a press statement the law as racist and contradicts International Law and fundamental principles of human rights, and charter of the United Nations (UN).
Al-Zayani added the law exemplifies acts of discrimination against the Palestinian people, while also insisting on blocking their identity and denying their civil and human rights in their occupied lands.
He insisted that the 'Jewish nation law is a dangerous political step towards promoting racism and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people and unfolding the hostile intentions of the Israeli authorities.
The continuing violations of International Law by the Israeli government undermines international efforts to reach a fair political resolution on the Palestinian case to bring security and stability in the region, added Al-Zayani.
He called on the UN, the Security Council, the Inter-Parliamentary Union, and International Organizations, to uphold their political and legal responsibilities and ask the Israeli authorities to abide by the UN resolutions to stop the implementation of the discriminatory law.
Al-Zayani also asked the International community to express solidarity and support for the Palestinian people in restoring their appropriated historical rights.
The Jewish nation law was passed on Thursday by the Knesset, to claim Israel the historical homeland, including the right of self-determination, while officially downgrading the Arabic language and consider Jerusalem the capital of Israel to dictate further expansion of the Jewish settlements in the West Bank.
