Singapore Airlines won the 'World's Best Airline' award


(MENAFN- Bangladesh Monitor) London : Singapore Airlines (SIA) has won the 'World's Best Airline' award at the Skytrax's World Airline Awards this year, which is recognised as the aviation industry's equivalent to the Oscars.

The airline also won first position in three other awards, SIA also gained the top spot in 'World's Best First Class', 'Best Airline in Asia' and 'Best First Class Airline Seat' categories in the 2018 rankings. This is the fourth time the SIA got the best airline award.

The awards are based on surveys on over 20 million travellers who rated over 335 airlines between August 2017 and May 2018.

Other awards included Best Cabin Crew in the UK, Best Business Class and World's Best Low Cost Airline

Singapore last won the award in 2008 and has knocked Qatar Airways into second place.

While it's no longer on the top spot for World's Best Airline, Qatar Airways has won the World's Best Business Class award.

In terms of staff on board, Garuda Indonesia has won the award for World's Best Airline Cabin Crew. The airline is the national airline of Indonesia and operates flights across Asia, the Middle East, Australia and Europe from Jakarta.

AirAsia was named as the World's Best Low Cost Airline, while Norwegian came in second place and EasyJet was named as the Best Low Cost Airline in the Britain.

Norwegian was also named as both the World's Best Long-Haul Low Cost Airline and also the Best Low Cost Airline in Europe.

The World's Most Improved Airline is China Southern Airlines, while Ryanair claimed fourth place in the category.

Meanwhile, British Airways won the award for Best Cabin Crew in the United Kingdom.
