Council of Europe welcomes lift of emergency state in Turkey


(MENAFN) The Council of Europe has hailed the move to end of the state of emergency which was imposed in Turkey.

The statement has been made by Daniel Holtgen, spokesman for the Secretary-General of Council of Europe during an interview with Anadolu Agency.

The spokesman stated that "it is a good thing that it has not been extended again and finally it has coming to an end."

"The secretary-general [Thorbjorn Jagland] emphasize that all such legislation should be compatible with the European Convention on Human Rights," Holtgen added.
