262 security members injured amid Iraq protests

(MENAFN) Iraq has confirmed the injury of 262 security members amid protests which recently erupted in the central and southern provinces of Iraq.

The recent protests have been organized in opposition of the deficiency in job vacancies as well as basic services.

The Iraqi Joint Operations Command's spokesperson Yahya Rasoul unveiled "we have a total of 262 security members wounded during the demonstrations, including six in critical conditions."

Rasoul also claimed that few "infiltrators" used in the peaceful protests "knives, batons, stones and live ammunition, against security forces in charge of protecting the demonstrators."
