Thailand: 3 passengers die in civilian helicopter crash


(MENAFN) Three people have died after a civilian helicopter plunged while landing in northeastern Thailand.

Atthaya Lapmak, director of Khon Kaen airport declared that an Eurocopter AS355 light utility helicopter has crashed as it arrived in Chonnabot district of Khon Kaen province, some 450 km northeast of Bangkok, at local time between 9:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., leaving three unknown passengers dead.

The airport official added that the white-painted helicopter caught fire once it crashed in a rice farm.

He added that heavy downpour and the poor sight were thought to be the reason behind the deadly crash, which departed from the nearby Saraburi province with Khon Kaen airport as its destination.
