New Delhi, July 17 (KNN) Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) Women's Wing in association with Krishi Vigyan Kendra of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR-CCARI) organized a 3 day entrepreneurship development workshop with a strong focus on jackfruit processing and value addition.

Dr Priya Devi from ICAR disseminated information on Jackfruit processing, its uses and purposes while pointing out how underused it was in state.

During the session, different processed products like jackfruit pulp, papad, pickle, squash, leather, bulbs in brine solution, etc and other products like jackfruit kababs, jack seed kheer, jackfruit gulab jamun, etc were demonstrated.

The third day of the session featured talks from the MSME and FDA ranging from the licenses one would need to process jackfruit as well as the various schemes available to those who wished to venture down that path.

Dr Jennifer Lewis Kamat, Chairperson, Women's Wing, GCCI, Panaji, was invited as the Chief Guest.

Knowing the potential for value added products, she urged the participants to enter into this venture.

Dr E B Chakurkar, director of ICAR CCARI, stressed the need of entering in value addition as it helps in doubling the farmer's income.
