Myanmar: six remain buried under mud after landslide


(MENAFN) The Information Ministry declared that six people remain disappeared after a landslide in Myanmar's jade mining region, Kachin state.

The Information Ministry added that the number of fatalities in the massive landslide has risen to 17 with 43 more wounded till now.

The crumble of a 91-meter high pit wall of a deserted jade mining site has left scavengers stranded in San-Khar village, Lone-Khin village tract in Hpakant mining region.

Search and rescue missions have been launched in the region as some jade scavengers were buried by the huge amount of mud.
