Nigeria: 44 die, 20 missing in floods


(MENAFN) The state governor declared that 44 people have died as 20 civilians disappeared after floods triggered by heavy downpour in Nigeria's northwest Kastina.

Aminu Masari, the governor of Katsina confirmed that over 500 houses were devastated as thousands of residents were dislocated.

His announcement took place after investigating the affected areas in Jibia local government area of the state.

He added: "The water from the river moved in a reverse order and come back to the town and caused the flooding,".
