Renovation halts ladies' day at Al Mamzar Beach Park in Dubai

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The usual two days for ladies will be put to a halt at Al Mamzar Beach Park for the next two months, announced the Dubai Municipality officials.

The municipality has also closed down the chalets for maintenance until September.

Mohammed Abdul Rahman Al Awadhi, director of public parks and horticulture department at the Dubai Municipality, confirmed that dedicated ladies days (Mondays and Wednesdays) will be stopped for the summer until September due to the presence of labourers performing maintenance work.

He added that teams will be working every day during the summer to speed up the maintenance and finish it before the start of the new season in September.

"We are working on improving the work and adding new services. Since people travel in summer and the heat contributes to fewer visitors, we figured it will be the best time to renovate the park," said Al Awadhi.

By September, people can expect a smarter park when they visit Al Mamzar. The municipality is adding newer furniture, air-conditioners and park grills to enable families to enhance their barbecue trips.

The civic body is also adding more parking spaces to allow larger number of visitors and reduce traffic congestion during public holidays.

"The park will be a smart park. We apologise for the inconvenience the maintenance might have caused to people this summer. But we are working on providing visitors and residents with a better experience," said Al Awadhi.

He noted that big budgets have been dedicated for similar transformations is across all the public parks in Dubai. However, he didn't disclose details on the smart transformation that will be introduced.

It is worth mentioning that the department has lately dedicated its efforts to introduce smart services in public parks to make Dubai the smartest city in the world. In December, the civic body made the Nol card as a mandatory way to access parks to reduce the number of paper tickets.

The municipality also launched dedicated online ticketing systems for latest landmarks like Dubai Frame and Dubai Safari.

A smart jogging and cycling track was also added last year in Al Khawaneej Park to display the weather forecast, number of bikers and joggers, and the number of calories burned per day. Al Awadhi said it already recorded over 2,000 bikers and joggers a day.
