NATO members naval exercise to begin Friday


(MENAFN) North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) members were declared to be set to begin their naval drill "Breeze 2018" on Friday the Black Sea zone in Bulgaria.

The Bulgarian Navy confirmed Thursday the 12-day exercise to be joined by 2,340 servicemen with up to combat and auxiliary ships and cutters, one submarine, four aircraft, and five helicopters.

In its statement, the navy said the naval forces to be coming from several areas including Bulgaria, Belgium, Greece, Standing NATO Maritime Group Two and Standing NATO Mine Countermeasures Group TWO from NATO's Response Force.

It added that the naval drill was decided to be conducted based on the standards of NATO.
