UN Women Brazil denounces harassment incident in World Cup


(MENAFN) The Brazilian office of UN Women has slammed the act of harassment a Russian woman suffered from few Brazilian tourists at the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Russia.

A group of Brazilian males were shown in video footage persuading a Russian woman to repeat few words in Portuguese, the woman repeated expressions with strong sexual and racist connotations without being aware of the meaning.

The UN Women Brazil stated "the deliberate intention of some Brazilian fans to sexually harass women during the World Cup" is unacceptable.

The global champion for gender equality added "to Russian women and women of all nationalities, UN Women Brazil expresses its solidarity."
