President enacts National Security Council's decision on sanctions against Russia


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has signed a decree on the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine "On the Application and Introduction of Changes to Personal Special Economic and Other Restrictive Measures (Sanctions)."

"To enact the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine of June 21, 2018 ‘On the Application and Introduction of Changes to Personal Special Economic and Other Restrictive Measures (Sanctions)', reads the presidential decree No. 176/2018, posted on the website of the Head of State.

"To apply personal special economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions) to certain individuals and legal entities and amend the sanctions applied in accordance with the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine of May 2, 2018," the decree reads.

President Poroshenko devolved the responsibility for exercising control over the implementation of the NSDC decision on Oleksandr Turchynov, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council.

The decree comes into force upon its promulgation.

According to the appendices to the decision, the sanctions are imposed on several members of Russian political parties, including the United Russia, the Communist Party and the LDPR.

Ella Pamfilova, Chairman of the Russian Central Electoral Commission, and her deputy, as well as members of the "Electoral Commission of the Republic of Crimea" and Russian businessmen Arkady Rotenberg and Boris Rotenberg were also included in the updated sanctions list.

On May 2, the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine imposed sanctions against Russian companies and citizens over aggression against Ukraine.
