Rozenko: Ukraine will win nothing from increase in gas prices for population

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Gas prices for population have not been raised in the past year and a half and remain at the level of the heating season 2016-2017.

Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Rozenko said this on 112 Ukraine TV Channel, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"Neither the government nor any other authority of Ukraine, the independent regulator National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission, has taken a decision to raise gas prices. This means that the gas price for population remains at the level of the last year's heating season - not the 2017-2018 season, but the 2016-2017 season. Gas prices for population have not been increased over the past year and a half, Rozenko said.

At the same time, he added that gas prices on world markets fluctuate in the direction of growth.

"Today we are holding back the situation in the gas market," the vice prime minister stressed.

According to him, the next increase in gas prices will negatively influence a social status of Ukrainians, which will lead to the growth of expenses because much more funds should be then projected in the budget of Ukraine.

The vice prime minister stressed that "Ukraine will win absolutely nothing" from the increase in gas prices for population.
