Fee for car park shade cut to Dh1,000 in UAE

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The fee for setting up carpark shades at homes and other premises has been reduced from Dh2,000 down to Dh1,000.

The Abu Dhabi Municipality's Urban Planning Department also cut the annual fee for renewing the permit for the car park cover from Dh500 to Dh200.

The move is part of the authorities' keenness on promoting happiness in the society through provision of affordable services for a decent life.

According to authorities, the violators or people who had set up car park shades at their homes without obtaining permission or those with expired permits have been given a six-month grace period to clean up their act and avoid penalties.

"Residents who had set up car park covers prior to getting approval from authorities should apply for the permits within the grace period that has been granted to them," said officials. "Also people with expired car park cover permits should clean up their act by renewing the permits to avoid problems."

The municipality seeks to oblige citizens and residents to license car umbrellas to ensure the safety and security of community members. The installation of umbrellas in accordance with the conditions and standards in violation of the conditions stipulated by the laws expose the population to damage. The municipality said it was keen on ensuring that the car park covers comply with the safety and security standards and also match with the city's appearance.

Car park cover rules

The car park covers must meet the road standards to ensure they don't hinder ambulances and utility vehicles.

The Abu Dhabi Municipality said that according to the provisions of the Administrative Decree No. (5) of 2006, it is not permissible to set up car park covers or shades outside homes, unless the necessary permit or licence has been obtained from the municipality.

The materials used for making the car park cover should be light but firm bearing in mind the country's weather conditions. The cover design should also be nice and should reflect the civilised appearance of the city and the residential neighbourhood. Car park covers should also be cleaned and maintained regularly and should be used for car parking only and not for other purposes.
