(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The Sharjah Police, after launching a crackdown on unlicensed or unregistered trailers, urged its owners to register it online or approach the Tasjeel village for completing the procedures. The police patrols were deployed on the roads and areas used by trucks.
A top official at the traffic and licence department of Sharjah Police said individuals and companies owning trailers should register them immediately as part of a strategic plan to ensure the safety of road users. Failing on registering the trailers will result in fine of Dh1,000, he said.
He stressed that the crackdown will continue and the owners of violating trailers will be fined.
He explained that the step comes as part of the ambitious plan of the Ministry of Interior (MoI) to ensure that trailers plying on the roads are safe and that details about their owners are with the authorities. Each registered trailer will have a number plate that will need to be placed at the rear of the trailer in a well-noticed area. "The trailers must be registered annually and people wishing to register them before the deadline should approach Tasjeel centres," he added.
