UAE- Snake caught in RAK house, killed

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) A snake was caught and killed in a house in Julphar area by the RAK Civil Defense team.

Sources said they were alerted about the snake on the second day of Eid Al Fitr. "Specialised teams, including an ambulance and paramedics, were sent immediately to the site."

The snake was killed after being caught, they added. "The public were urged to keep their doors tightly closed, as snakes might come searching for shadow and lower temperature at nearby homes."

Saeed A., the one who reported the snake to the RAK Civil Defence, said he believed that serpents mostly appear in the summer due to the sweltering temperature."They come up looking for a cooler place."

Late in May 2015, a largesnakeemerged from a sewage pipe at the Qasimia Boys School, Ras Al Khaimah. The school administration sent the young boys home before scheduled time.

The civic body, alerted of the incident, instantly sent this team to spray insecticides in all the sewage pipes of the school to kill any dangerous reptiles or bugs that might be hiding therein.

The RAK Civil Defence sources urged the residents to be extra cautious when dealing with snakes, particularly those located in desert areas. "These are mostly poisonous and dangerous."

People may be scared because some of these snakes are venomous and could cause death, they warned.

The ambulance and rescue team of the air wing of the Ras Al Khaimah police had in March rescued an Asian resident bitten by a snake on maintain top in one of the Emirates.
