(MENAFN- Asia Times) A Filipino migrant worker's wallet containing PHP93,000 (US$1,740) has been returned seven months after she lost it at Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
Marilyn Vallada, who worked as an entertainer in Japan, returned to the Philippines last November. She landed and went through Terminal 2 at Ninoy Aquino International Airport before heading to her home in Nueva Ecija, about 140 kilometers away, the Manila Bulletin reported.
Vallada said she went to the bathroom before leaving the airport and when she arrived home discovered she had lost her wallet. She said the money in the wallet was her hard earned salary and she had lost hope of recovering it.
However, on Wednesday morning she received a call from Arnulfo Junio, the airport's assistant general manager of the lost and found section. Junio told her his section had the wallet. She went to the airport on Wednesday and retrieved it.
Junio said his staff was able to trace Vallada by contacting the Philippine Airlines' ticketing office. He said if they had not been able to trace her, the money would have been forfeited to the government.
