Egypt- 1.1% decline in mobile subscribers, internet market loses 1.2 million customers


(MENAFN- Daily News Egypt) class="p1">The number of mobile subscribers in Egypt has declined by 1.1% in March, compared to February, according to a report issued by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, as the number of mobile subscribers declined from 100.2 million in February 2018 to 99.1 million subscribers in March.

On the other hand, the report showed a decline in the number of internet users from 40.7 million in February 2018, recording 39.5 million in March. This means that the number of internet customers is decreasing by a rate of 1.2 million in just one month.

According to the report, the number of internet users through mobiles declined from 32.1 million in February 2018 to 31.5 million in March.

As for USB modem internet users, their number declined from 3.2 million in February to 2.5 million in March 2018.

Meanwhile, the number of fixed-line Internet subscribers (ADSL) increased to 5.5 million in March 2018 compared to 5.4 million in February.

The report revealed an increase in the number of users of fixed lines by 630,000. The number of landline users increased from 6.6 million in February to record 7.2 million in March 2018.
