CoA asks BCCI members to cut short UK trip

The Committee of Administrators has asked the BCCI acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary and CEO Rahul Johri to cut short their UK trip.

Virat Kohli and his boys are headed to United Kingdom to take on Ireland in a two-match T20I series this month.

They will then face England in three T20I matches.

The officials of the BCCI were planning to watch these matches.

With the ICC meeting set to held from June 28 to July 2, both Amitabh and Rahul would be attending the same.

Besides the meet, the duo were keen to watch the two T20Is versus Ireland and also the matches against England.

As per reports, CEO Johri had written an email to the CoA that he will be returning after watching the games.

Expenses


The CoA has stated that the BCCI officials planned their trips without seeking approval. The CoA has only given them the permission to travel to Dublin for the ICC meeting.

The administrators asked the BCCI duo to limit their expenses to the extent borne by the ICC.

The CoA also added that it does not see any value of Amitabh staying back.

The CoA has told Amitabh that if he wants to stay back and watch the matches, then the board will not bear any expenses and he should do it from his own pocket.

According to reports, a senior BCCI member has stated that the CoA has embarrassed Amitabh.

Notably, last year, an entourage of officials had travelled to England for Champions Trophy.
