Riyadh, Shawwal 05, 1439, June 19, 2018, SPA -- The spokesman of the coalition forces (coalition to support the legitimacy in Yemen) Colonel Turki al-Maliki stated that at exactly five and thirty three minutes (17:43), the air defense forces of the coalition detected the launch of a ballistic missile by the Houthi militia of Iran from within the territory of Yemen from the city of Sa'ada towards the kingdom.
Colonel al-Maliki said that the missile was aimed at the city of Khamis Mushayt and was deliberately launched to target civilian and populated areas. The Saudi Royal Air Defense Forces were able to intercept and destroy it. No damage was caused.
The spokesman added that this hostile act by the Houthi terrorist militia of Iran proves that the Iranian regime continues to be involved in supporting the Houthi armed militias with qualitative capabilities in clear and explicit defiance of UN resolutions 2216 and 2231 in order to threaten the security of Saudi Arabia and threaten regional and international security. The firing of ballistic missiles at densely populated cities and villages is contrary to international and humanitarian law.
