Iraqi troops launch military reinforcements along borders with Syria


(MENAFN) On Sunday, Iraqi News quote a source from the border guards in Anbar as saying that Iraqi security troops have made military reinforcements along the borders with Syria.

Speaking to Almaalomah website, the source said "Iraqi troops are carrying out military reinforcements as well as erecting unprecedented security barriers along the borders with Syria to prevent Islamic State militants infiltration and limit smuggling operations, while the Syrian army invade Islamic State locations near Qaim town, west of Anbar."

The target behind the reinforcement, according to the source, "is prevent infiltration of whoever escapes battles in Syria toward the western regions." The reinforcements "were started from Rutba reached to the Anbar and Mosul."

Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi has said troops managed to secure the Syrian side of borders and remove Islamic State members in Upper Euphrates. He also made instructions to secure the Iraqi borders to limit the infiltration of the terrorists.
