(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- After Oman's National Multi Hazard Early Warning Centre predicted that Tropical Cyclone Mekunu will hit Dhofar, people from the governorate came together and launched several initiatives to help those in need.
A campaign under hashtag, 'Oman here from Musandam to Dhofar' was also started.The hashtag urged people in Oman to help and support those in Dhofar and Al Wusta with all available resources.
A citizen offered two of his apartments in Salalah to accommodate those affected by the cyclone. Samir bin Sulaiman al Zadjali spread the details through social media channels.
'I thought about this initiative, as we are one nation. We must stand together and cooperate with government agencies to overcome the effects of this tropical situation.
'We spread information on our initiatives through social media channels such as Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram. We have also urged people to donate for the cause,' said Zadjali. Zadjali said that Omanis are capable of facing any situation and they had proved this during Cyclone Gonu in 2007.
