(MENAFN- Asia Times) Guiyang, the capital of Guizhou, once a relatively poor southwestern province of China, has succeeded in transforming itself into the "Big Data valley" of the country,
As China's first big data pilot zone, Guizhou has attracted Alibaba and the big three telecom operators including China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom to build data centers.
Huawei's global private cloud center has also started construction there, with an estimated total investment of between 8 and 10 billion yuan.
Except for domestic giants, the city has also attracted investment from American multinational enterprises such as Dell and Qualcomm.
Dell recently announced a cooperative deal with a local cloud service provider in Guizhou, to establish the first cloud service for small and medium-sized enterprises in the province.
Meanwhile, Qualcomm will continue to support HXT, the joint venture between the company and the Guizhou government to develop server chips. Also, Apple's iCloud user data in China will all be migrated to Guizhou-Cloud Big Data, its partner to operate iCloud services in mainland China.
