Kuwait's Gen. Consulate holds mass Iftar for displaced Iraqis


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) IRBIL, May 27 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Consulate General held on Sunday a mass Iftar (breakfast) for displaced Iraqis, sponsored by Kuwaiti philanthropists through Zakat House and the General Awqaf Secretariat.
In a statement to KUNA, Kuwait Consul General, Omar Al-Kanderi, said that they are executing Iftar initiative, which was made through the General Secretariat of Awqaf and Kuwait Zakat House, as an annual event for the Muslims in Arab and Muslim countries during Ramadhan.
Al-Kanderi added they also organized today an Iftar for a large number of displaced Iraqis living outside the camps near Irbil city, as well as to the people in the region.
The Kuwaiti official pointed out that this project is in cooperation with humanitarian organizations in Kurdistan region.
On his part, Director of Public Relations in Ronahi Charitable Organization Saleh Mahdi said in a statement to KUNA, today's Iftar included about 300 displaced Iraqis. (end) sbr.mb
