Two pedestrians die in Abu Dhabi road accident

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Two Arab pedestrians, in their 40s, have been knocked down while walking on a sidewalk by a car that veered off the road on Sunday at Madinaat Mohamed bin Zayed.

The two people died on the spot and shifted by the ambulance to Khalifa Hospital.

The accident occurred at Mahwa bridge roundabout towards the city.

Brigadier Abdullah bin Brak Al Dhahri, Director of the Peripheral Areas Traffic Department, Abu Dhabi Police, said a report had been received by the Command and Control Room that an accident took place.

Patrols cars and ambulance rushed quickly to the accident scene.

Investigations showed that the accident was blamed on a car, which changed its course without making sure that the road is clear.

This led the vehicle to suddenly veer off the road and smash into the pavement from the left side.

This made the driver to lose control over the steering wheel and turn to the right side of the road and run over two people, who were walking on a pedestrian sidewalk.
