Pakistan beat England by nine wickets: Match in numbers
27 May 2018

England crumbled to a nine-wicket defeat in the hands of Pakistan in the first Test at Lord's.

Pakistan made light work of England's batting line-up, bundling them for just 184 and 242 in first and second innings respectively.

On the fourth day, Pakistan needed only 64 runs to clinch the victory and they did it in style by losing just one wicket.

England down and gutted
Thrashed

Since 1995, this is the first time that the Three Lions have lost the opening Test of a home summer tour.

In 1995, West Indies led by Ambrose and Walsh had crushed them by 9 wickets at Headingley.

This is the second instance where England have lost a home Test that began and ended in May. The last defeat was against Australia in 1921.

Pakistan have time and again got the better of England
Domination

Pakistan have now won 8 out of their last 11 Test matches against England.

This epic victory at the Lord's takes Pakistan's tally to 5 wins and 4 losses against England at this iconic venue.

The only other team with more wins against England at the Lord's is Australia with 15 wins and 7 losses to their name.

England have a poor record under Trevor Bayliss
Horrendous

Trevor Bayliss might have already decided when he will part ways with England but the England coach's record is only getting worse by the day.

England have now won just 15 Tests and lost 20 out of their last 44 Tests under Bayliss.

However, their record in ODIs tells us a completely different story.

In ODIs, they have 38 wins in 57 games.

Mohammad Abbas sets a record with his match-winning performance
Fact

Mohammad Abbas broke a record as his figures of 8-64 are the best by a Pakistan's pacer at Lord's. Mickey Arthur is now only the third coach to win two Tests against England at the Lord's. Bobby Simpson and John Buchanan are the other two.
