Mild rain in UAE as Mekunu weakens


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Parts of the UAE received heavy to moderate rains following the impact of cyclone Mekunu.
An official from the National Centre for Meteorology (NCM) said the cyclone had weakened but would result in rain and thunderstorm on Sunday and Monday.

"Rain will continue in next two days, mostly in eastern and southern parts. There will be poor visibility on road of less than 2,000 metres and motorists need to be careful," the official said.

Heavy rains were reported on Jabal Hafeet and Al Dhaher area in Al Ain, while moderate rainfall was recorded in Al Saa and Om Ghafaa.

Mekunu weakened to a tropical storm on Saturday, moving away from Salalah with thunder, rainfall and a wind speed of 65kph to 80kph, according to an update by NCM.
