UAE- Ramadan Fatwa: Does anal suppository break the fast?

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Question: Does anal suppository break the fast?

Answer: According to the majority of the jurists, anal suppository breaks the fast because it is a substance that reaches the belly through an open access.

However, the Maliki jurists see that it does not break the fast if it is not a liquid, because any solid substance that reaches the belly from a lower access does not break the fast.

Accordingly, it is permitted for a fasting person to use the anal suppository in case of necessity, following the ruling of Imam Malik.
