Ace spinner dedicates award to blast victims


(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghanistan€™s spin prodigy Rashid Khan has devoted his man of the match award to victims of a bomb attack on a cricket match in Jalalabad.

A week ago, at least eight people were killed in a series of bomb explosions at a cricket match in Nangarhar€™s capital. The attack took place as hundreds of people gathered at to watch a night-time cricket tournament.

In Friday€™s encounter against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Rashid shone with the bat (34 off 10 deliveries) and the ball (3/19) to help Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) marching into the final of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

In recognition of his brilliant all-round performance, the ace spinner was adjudged the man of the match. "I want to dedicate this award to those who lost their lives in a blast during a cricket game in my hometown."

At the post-match presentation ceremony, the 19-year-old was quoted as saying by India Today: "It was much-needed for me, wanted to give my 100 per cent in all departments.€
