US drone strike kills 3 Taliban in Nangarhar


(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Three Taliban have been killed in US drone strike in the Sara Roud district while security forces have launched clearing operations in eastern Laghman and Laghman provinces, an official said on Friday.

The drone missile targeted the Taliban on the outskirts of Sara Roud district on Friday night, said Lt. Co. Aqa Sherin Faqiri, spokesman 201st Selab Military Corps.

Three Taliban were killed and their hideout destroyed in the strike, he said.

Separately, a statement from the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said the Taliban€™s insurgency Commander Gul Ahmand Sangari and his two colleagues had been killed in the attack.

Sangari organized and conducted terrorist attacks, stormed security forces post, planted mines and conducted other subversive attacks.

Elsewhere, Afghan National Army (ANA) forces have launched a joint operation with other security institutions in the Batikot district of Nangarhar province.

Some villages had been cleared of the insurgents in the past 24 hours by security forces in the ongoing Qahr-i-Selab-5 operation.

Sherin added security forces also launched operation Qahr-i-Selab -1 operation in the Alishang district, he said.
