Afghanistan- Registration begins for October vote


(MENAFN- Afghanistan Times) AT-KABUL: The Independent Election Commission on Saturday begins to register candidates for the Lower House and District Council elections scheduled for October 20, said an official on Friday. The lower house has 250 seats, 239 has been divided among the provinces while 10 seats have been allocated for nomads. The Independent Election Commission Deputy Head Maazullah Dawlati has said people who want to contest in the upcoming Lower House and District Council election could register in registration centers in Kabul or provinces. He said forms for the registration of candidates had been already prepared, the process of registration and eligibility criteria already existed on the website of the commission. Those wishing to throw hats in the ring for the upcoming vote could register their names as of May 26 till June 22. Dawlati said candidate symbols would be chosen on the bases of draw, he added. And election signs would also be decided through the process of draw.
