(MENAFN- Daily Outlook Afghanistan) KABUL - Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdullah Abdullah has given away the keys of residential apartments at the Kabul-Emirate Township to 27 national football players.
The national footballers were honored after winning the South Asia Football final five years back.
Referring to the past historic win, the CEO told the players that the people of Afghanistan loved them and it would be better not to rely on one win.
'The distribution of apartments was promised during Hamid Karzai's Presidency, but work on the apartments could not be completed thus the keys handover also delayed, he said.
Abdullah said the football team often bought happiness and joy to the people and regenerated hopes.
He added 3,330 apartments in the Kabul-Emirate Township had already been distributed to security officials and government employees.
Back in 2013, Afghanistan defeated India in the final match of South Asia Football championship. Afghanistan then ranked 139th in the FIFA ranking and 21st in the Asian ranking. (Pajhwok)
