KIB sponsors graduation projects of engineering students at Kuwait University

Under the umbrella of its leading social responsibility program, Kuwait International Bank (KIB) offered its sponsorship to a number of graduation projects developed by students from the College of Engineering and Petroleum at Kuwait University. The Bank aimed at supporting students who are taking part in the University’s 34th Engineering Design Exhibition, which will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in June. Among the projects that KIB sponsored was the ‘3S-Smart Scaffolding System’ project, spearheaded by engineering students Fatma Al-Salah, Badria Ahmed, Aisha Al-Kandari, and Hussah Al-Anazi. The project aims at developing a remote-controlled electronic scaffolding device, thereby saving a significant amount of time and effort in construction projects. Additionally, the Bank sponsored the ‘Reverse Vending Machine’ project which was developed by engineering students Fatma Al-Azmi, Wahj Al-Mutairi, Zainab Abbas, and Afrah Al-Shatti. The project aims at creating a recycling mechanism that reuses water bottles and soda cans after they are no longer of any use. Another project the Bank sponsored was ‘In Porous Media’, which was led by Maha Al-Thaferi and Noura Al-Sharah. The project focuses on injecting water in different reservoir layers to increase oil production and studying the water injected to avoid any deposition issues in rocks and pipelines. KIB also sponsored the ‘Variable Absorber Device’ developed by engineering students Halima Al-Felkawi, Mizan Al-Dabbous, Fatma Taqqi, and Shouq Hajji. The project aims at absorbing vibration motions in buildings. On his part, Manager of the Corporate Communications Unit at KIB, Nawaf Najia, said: “We always strive to support projects and innovative ideas that contribute to the community’s development. Accordingly, KIB is committed to sponsoring projects developed by youth and adopting their ideas and innovations whenever possible. This stems from our deep-rooted belief that youth are the cornerstone to the advancement of the community and the nation’s future development across different areas.” Najia added that KIB continues to sponsor students’ graduation projects at the annual Engineering Design Exhibition as part of its social responsibility initiatives aimed at supporting talented, ambitious youth. Each year, the Bank selects a number of graduation projects to sponsor, as part of its leading social responsibility program.
