DOHA: The late evening hours in Doha which turned vibrant with the advent of Holy month of Ramadan has become more active due to recent relaxation given to markets by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce.
The Holy month of Ramadan has always been a full night awakening affair with residents engaged in prayers in mosques or indulged in shopping in malls or having scrumptious suhoor meals at luxury hotels.
This year too impeccably follows the past traditions and after the first eight days of the Holy month, nights are becoming more lively, cheerful and full of activity of one kind or another for the residents and citizens alike.
The early part of the night of fasting people is spent in mosques in offering Taraweeh then they head to various locations of their choice to spend the night till the crack of dawn with their families and friends.
The recent decision by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) under which shopping malls and retail outlets can extend working hours throughout the Holy month of Ramadan without obtaining prior approval has further increased vibrancy in and around the markets. Earlier, in Ramadan, most of the major retailers used to remain open until midnight.

Souq Waqif is the most favourite spot to spend a tireless night during Ramadan enjoying multiple toothsome food dishes and hot beverages particularly karak. In Katara, 'Meerat Ramadan shopping festival is being hosted by Katara in honour for the Holy month that offers all traditional games and other fun-filled activities for children and families from 8pm to 11:55pm daily.
Not only the Muslims who have to observe fast in the early morning, but all residents irrespective of their faith also celebrate this month. As almost all shopping malls, hypermarkets have announced lucrative offers, everyone in the town tries to fully grab the opportunity and most of the shoppers love buying activity in the coolness of night.
Garangao night celebrations are just round the corner rather some entities have started celebrating it. Tonight, Doha Festival City is hosting the biggest traditional Garangao celebration (9pm onwards) for kids where each child will receive their very own goodie bag and map with clues to find and collect candy hidden all over the mall.
From luxury hotels to neigbourhood eateries, suhoor packages are everywhere. Ramadan tents with their live-cooking stations featuring Japanese, Italian, Indian, Arabic, Turkish, Asian and a host of other cuisines are the final destination of many fasting people particularly Qatari citizens.
Within days, everyone is set to enter Eid shopping frenzy and the retailers are also all set to announce irresistible discount offers.
