Former Italy striker Vincenzo Iaquinta can face up to six years in prison on charges of possession of arms.

As per reports, the 2006 World Cup winner has links with the Calabrian mafia.

Wide-ranging investigation sees the former Juventus player being tried along with 140 others.

The investigation is regarding the Ndrangheta mafia group.

The Ndrangheta mafia originated in the impoverished region of Calabria, Italy in the 18th century.

He is believed to be involved with mafia as well and can face up to 10 years in jail.

The suspects were stated to have infiltrated northern Italy, besides making illegal profits.

Iaquinta played 207 games for Italian club Udinese and scored 73 goals.

He made a switch to Juventus in 2007 and then featured in 109 games to hit 40 goals in return.

He won the Serie A with Juventus in 2012-13.

For Italy, he featured in a total of 40 games and was honored with the 2006 World Cup winners medal.
