Modi, Putin agree on joint project in Afghanistan

(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) KABUL (Pajhwok): India and Russia have agreed to undertake a joint project, possibly in the development sector, in Afghanistan, a newspaper reported on Thursday.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived at the agreement at six hours meeting in Sochi earlier in the week.

The Indian Express reported Modi suggested the joint project in Afghanistan, a proposal that Putin welcomed.€

The understanding comes hot on the heels of an informal summit in Wuhan, where Modi and the Chinese president Xi decided to work on a joint project in Afghanistan.

India also raised the issue of countering terrorism and opaquely blamed Pakistan for supporting terrorists. Delhi rejected the impression that Pakistan itself was a victim of terror.

€œThere are victims. Some are victims of terror of their own making: their people are being killed by terrorists and terror groups created by them.

€œBut we are victims of terrorism perpetrated by groups created by them €¦ We conveyed that there is a difference,€ an unnamed official told the daily.
