Kohli's County stint might get cut short due to injury

As per reports, Indian skipper Virat Kohli has been advised by his doctors to skip the County stint with Surrey as he is suffering from a herniated disc.
However, a top BCCI official told PTI that it is a case of "neck sprain" and not a "slip disc injury".
Kohli wanted to play County in order to prepare for the upcoming England series.

Kohli was recently seen in action in 2018 Indian Premier League, where he led the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
According to Times of India, he visited an orthopaedic surgeon in Khar, Mumbai.
The surgeon and his team advised the cricketer not to go ahead with the County cricket stint as they found out some damage in the spinal nerves as well.
Kohli's condition does not need surgery
Contrary reports
The good news is that Kohli's condition is not severe and doesn't warrant a surgery.
However, contrary to reports, PTI has claimed it is a case of a neck sprain.
Missing the stint with Surrey can be a huge blow for Kohli.
He was keen to use this time to adjust to the conditions since he had failed in the last tour of England.

"Yes, Virat has had fatigue issues and this is a case of workload management rather than injury management. But it isn't a case of slip disc. As of now, we will be monitoring his workload," a senior BCCI official told the PTI.

In the last 12 months, Kohli has played all 9 Tests which India have played, 29 of 32 ODIs, 9 of 18 T20Is.
It means he has featured in 47 of the 59 international matches played.
The non-stop cricket is taking a toll on his body. Even Kohli had acknowledged this fact when he decided to skip the Nidahas Trophy.

"We are chalking a plan wherein his County stint will be curtailed. He will play two four-day matches as per the original plan and not the five Royal London Cup (50 over) matches" BCCI official added.
