Pakistan, England first Test begins today


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) PESHAWAR: The first match of the two-match Test series between Pakistan and England will be played today (Thursday).

The match will begin at Lord's at 3:00pm (PST).

Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed told media in London on Tuesday that the team will prefer to include Hasan Ali, but his selection will depend on his fitness. He said although his team are relatively inexperienced, but the players are talented and they will win the match by utilising these capabilities.

Pakistan have already announced 12-men squad for today's Test.

Pakistan squad: Azhar Ali, Imamul Haq, Haris Sohail, Asad Shafiq, Babar Azam, Sarfraz Ahmed, Shadab Khan, Faheem Ashraf, Mohammad Aamir, Mohammad Abbas, Rahat Ali, Hassan Ali.

England squad: Alastair Cook, Mark Stoneman, Joe Root, 4 Dawid Malan, Jonny Bairstow, 6 Ben Stokes, 7 Jos Buttler, 8 Mark Wood/Chris Woakes, 9 Dom Bess, 10 Stuart Broad, 11 James Anderson.

Pakistan will go into the series, but the recent Test form of England was also not very encouraging and Pakistan would be looking to cash in. England will be looking to cash in on home advantage and weakness of Pakistani batsmen against the moving ball.

The second Test between the two teams will begin on 1 June.
